Fruit And Greens In Season In February In The UK
Wondering what’s in season in February in the UK? Wonder no more! I’ve got the definitive list of the fruits and vegetables in season in Britain this month.
Whilst growing your own food is one way to eat more sustainably, another easier way is to buy seasonal food. There are tons of great benefits to this.
For a start, eating seasonally reduces what is known as food miles. This is the distance between where something is produced to where it’s eaten. By reducing our food miles, this minimises carbon emissions, compared to more carbon intensive produce that’s grown abroad and then flown or shipped to the UK. Plus it supports British farmers.
Eating seasonal food also often reduces the need for plastic packaging. And seasonal food is often cheaper compared to out-of-season produce.
February’s Best

We might still be in winter in February, but there are still lots of great seasonal things to feast on this month. February sees leeks and cabbage at their very best. However, there are lots of other good things in season this month, from old favourites such as apples and pears to that tasty winter staple – kale!
To help keep you right, I’ve also created a handy PDF guide to February’s list (without photos). This means you can easily print it off and pin it to your fridge to help you when you are meal planning. Or you can fold it up and carry it in your bag when you go shopping so you know what to look for when you head to the shops.
On to the definitive guide to the fruit and vegetables in season in the UK in February.
